Sosua nightlife in the Dominican Republic

The average traveler doesn’t know much about Sosua’s nightlife. Most travelers heading to Sosua, Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic will likely end up at an all-inclusive resort and spend the week at their hotel sipping piña coladas.

And for a family heading to Sosúa, that might be the best option. But if you are a single traveler and looking to experience a unique and exciting nightlife, I suggest you spend a few nights in the city.

Sosua is a beautiful coastal city during the day. At night, the lights go out, the bars open, and the girls roll in. Most of the girls you will find in Sosúa will be “working girls”. But even if you decide not to participate in that experience, you can still have a good time drinking, flirting, and dancing the night away.

The small town is full of little “chiringuitos”. Chiringuitos are basically small bars that have an open air. You can also head to any of these bars and grab a Presidente for a few pesos and sit back and enjoy the view. Chances are you will be approached by a few groups of “working girls” over the course of the night, but you can always politely dismiss them. You will most likely end up chatting with them, dancing with them, and having a good time. Although they are officially “working”, they are not strictly commercial. They are normal girls who are also looking to have fun.

If you prefer the club scene to the bar scene, then you don’t want to miss Club X. Club X billboards are all over Sosúa. The club is medium in size. It is dark and usually crowded. It is a great place to dance the night away. The club is open until after 4 a.m. M. For those of you who have the energy to go all night.

There is also a casino in Sosua that caters to an audience after hours. The tables don’t have much at stake, so if you’re in the mood to try your luck at roulette or blackjack, this is a good place to go and have a good time.

My recommendation for those of you heading to Sosúa is to rent a condo or villa instead of booking a week at a hotel. While a hotel may offer some nice luxuries, chances are you’ll miss out on Sosua’s fantastic nightlife.
