New roof installation: guidelines to follow

3. Start installing the roofing paper from the bottom edge up. Let it hang above the ceiling by at least inches. To secure the roofing paper, use a nail gun to help hold it in place.

4. Apply second layer of roofing paper; remember to overlap the first paper by a line. Repeat the same procedure until the entire ceiling is completely covered. The purpose of doing this is to create a waterproof sheet before installing the roof.

5. Start shingling from corner to edge, a shingle is a small flat shingle that can be made of wood or asphalt and works as an overlapping course to cover a roof.

6. When you are done with all the procedures, your roof is ready.

To stay safe, wear protective coverings like construction gloves and a tool belt to make the job easier to get done. Replacing a roof is a big outlay, but it may be worth it after seeing an improved exterior to your home.
