Baby safety gates are fences that can be installed around the house to prevent your little one from leaving a room, entering a room, preventing them from going up or down the stairs. They do an excellent job discouraging even the most curious or enthusiastic baby from going into those risky areas.

But today, the modern concept of open doors has made it difficult to use the conventional baby safety gate. For example, most living rooms open directly into the dining room and kitchen, both of which are obviously very dangerous places for babies.

Of course, you can always add additional extensions to your regular gate, but there are only so many plugins you can add and still make it secure. So if you’re moving into a new home that has an open concept, it’s simply better to invest in a wide or extra-wide baby gate.

Those special security doors can be used practically anywhere: between the living room and the kitchen, to divide parts of the backyard, to divide a room, in the entrance hall, etc. Some wide baby safety gates can even be attached together so that they can form a fenced-in playground, making it very useful if you have other parents with children at home.
