What is a karmic soulmate?

One of the most interesting, yet bewildering, things about life is that of all the people in the world, some lucky people will touch our lives in a special way and leave lasting impressions. One of those people is your karmic soulmate.

While other soulmates come into your life for intimate reasons, karmic soulmates do not; because they are the ones who come into your life to teach you something about yourself or help you with a particular task.

While there is usually no sexual relationship with this person, there is still that bond, that closeness, that inevitable feeling that this person is very special. He may be a special friend, a co-worker or even a member of your family, but one thing is for sure, without them your life would not be complete.

I have compiled ten questions and answers that will further explain what karmic soulmates are all about. It is my hope that you walk away with a clearer understanding of the soulmate karmic relationship and can use this knowledge to recognize those people who touch you in ways that others cannot.

Can a karmic relationship go to the next level?

No. Once a karmic soulmate, always a karmic soulmate. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking there’s more to it than there really isn’t. The karmic soulmate only comes into your life to teach you something or you teach them and then they, just like you, move on.

What kind of lessons do karmic soulmates teach you?

That depends on the particular situation. One karmic soulmate may come into your life to teach you about strength, while another may teach you about compassion. I had karmic soul mates come into my life to show me that I needed to stop and smell the roses. I have had karmic soul mates come into my life to show me how to better myself. I have also had karmic soul mates come into my life to help me complete tasks that I would otherwise not know how to do on my own.

Do karmic soulmates find their way back into each other’s path?

Of course. But when they do, it’s to learn new lessons.

The karmic soulmate bond, just like in other soulmate relationships, never goes away.

You say family members can be karmic soul mates. Can you give an example?

Your mother is your first karmic soul mate. The aunt who took care of you when your parents couldn’t is another example. The grandmother who encouraged you through college and who was always there for you when others couldn’t or wouldn’t. Good examples of karmic soulmates. They support you, love you and are there for you.

Can animals also be soul mates?

Yes, as funny as it sounds, animals can fall into this category.

I have a story in my anthology, Romancing the Soul, by an amazing writer named Avie Townsend that beautifully exemplifies the karmic soulmate experience.

When I read your story about a cat you had named Eli, I knew right away that this was no ordinary pet. Avie and Eli had connected on a spiritual level and exhibited extraordinary personal communication. Cats, like other animals, have souls.

Remember, every living organism on this earth can become your soul mate.

If so, what about that philodendron sitting in my living room? It is a living organism. Can that plant also be a soul mate?

As strange as it sounds, yes. Due to the fact that it is a living, breathing organism, it has the potential to become a karmic soul mate. Have you ever seen a homeless person carrying a certain plant? Have. That plant must have had special meanings or it could be that they connected on a soulmate karmic plane. Sure!

It is a documented fact that when you talk to plants, they thrive. Ignore them and while they may not die, they don’t thrive as much as if you were to “connect” with them on a spiritual level. Talk to your plants and see if I’m wrong.

Anything that is breathing and alive can be a potential soulmate.

Could I end up marrying my karmic soulmate?

No. This would fall under the soulmate mate category.

What are the differences?

A karmic soul mate comes into your life so that you can teach him something or learn something from him. A companion soul mate comes into your life to be intimate and/or have children.

A karmic soulmate comes into your life intermittently, while a companion soulmate relationship can last for years.

A karmic soulmate is the easiest soulmate to find, while the mate soulmate takes time and a lot of thought and is the most tumultuous of the three separate types of soulmates.

Why do you say tumultuous?

The soul mate’s karmic relationship usually remains stable, while the soul mate comes with its own set of problems. That is not to say that there will not be differences within the karmic soulmate relationship, but rather that it never becomes as explosive as it is within the soulmate relationship. Of the three types of soul mates: karmic, mate, and soul mate, the soul mate relationship is the category that requires a lot of work to make it successful. A karmic soulmate relationship requires no – if little – work to remain in an even balance of wills and demands.

In order for you to fulfill your life’s destiny, you must allow your karmic soulmates into your life. What if Lucy hadn’t had Ethel to get her out of all that trouble? Karmic soulmates come into your life for reasons and it is through them that we discover an important side to life in general and also to ourselves.
