The correct way to hang Priscilla curtains

For country charm and elegance, there’s nothing like Priscilla shades. The diverse designs of this classic brand will transform any window into a masterpiece, especially when topped with an elegant valance. You can add a touch of old-fashioned Victorian elegance to even the most modern home. But if you don’t hang the curtains correctly, the whole effect will be lost. Here’s how to get the job done right.

To make sure your curtains are wide enough, measure the window frame. Each curtain panel should be at least twice the width of the window. This will allow the curtains to hang properly. For this reason, Priscilla blinds are made with an extra width. Rather, they are too wide rather than not wide enough.

Install all necessary rods and other accessories. Curtains shall be covered with double curtain rods. Attach 2 rod holders next to each other, or buy rods that have double fittings. The goal is to have one bar attached on top of the other. This means that one rod will have a long handle and the other will be shorter.

Next, attach a curtain panel to both rods. Most Priscilla curtains have ruffles, either on all sides or just on one side. If you’re hanging single-sided ruffled shades on multiple windows, the back panel should face one direction and the front panel the other.

Slide the back panel across the entire window area, making sure the ruching is consistent. Repeat this procedure with the front panel and the other rod. Priscilla curtains are usually supplied with matching tiebacks. If not, you can buy some or use lace or ribbon. But, to achieve the right effect, the curtains must have tiebacks.

Gather the ruffled side and bring it to the other side of the window. Just tie it up like any other curtain. Place the tieback around the curtain and attach it to a wall halfway up the window. The tie should be able to reach almost to the center of the window area. This shouldn’t be a problem if Priscilla supplies the tie downs as they are usually longer than conventional ones.

Attach the rear panel to the other side of the window in exactly the same way. Pull loosely on each panel to separate them from the tie, making sure the ruffled sections hang together in the center of the window. The amount of loot where the panels intersect is up to you.
