There are some high-paying careers that don’t require many hours of higher education to obtain. Many people begin their working life by attending school to become a paralegal and then focus their efforts on earning a full law degree. As a paralegal, your responsibilities could include everything a lawyer could do, except go to trial and represent a case. You should enjoy doing a lot of research if you are interested in becoming certified as a paralegal.

Pharmacy technicians earn well above minimum wage and are responsible for maintaining accurate patient records, speaking on the phone with insurance companies, patients and doctors, and counting and verifying the accuracy of medical doses. They work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and can easily continue their education in the medical field. Many pharmacy technicians become nurses or doctors.

Surgical Technicians are highly paid, but are required to be certified. They often work alongside a surgeon in the operating room and may be expected to perform the final closure for the physician. They must be calm, cool and collected in all emergency situations and required to perform endpoints on a surgical patient.

Medical transcription is a field in which medical information is converted from voice recordings and written to a computer file by a person who is certified as a medical transcriptionist. These jobs not only pay well above minimum wage, but can also involve driving to a location to personally take a patient’s statement. This job may offer you enough time to continue your education to acquire a better paying job in the medical profession.

Medical coding is another healthcare related job that pays very well and allows a person to complete most of their tasks from home, or take their laptop to doctors’ offices and complete the requirements there. These jobs often help prepare a person to earn a degree in health care administration and pay enough to qualify for student loans to continue their education in one of the highest paying careers.
