Paint protection film: what is it?

Everything you buy, it seems you want to keep it safe. Whether it’s screen protectors and cases for your phone or sleeves for your laptop, you want to make sure it stays scratch and damage free for as long as it can survive. So why don’t people care as much about their cars? I mean, sure, you wouldn’t give a damn if the car you’re driving is just a battered old lemon, but there are more new cars on the road now than ever before (FCAI 2017). Today’s new cars are more brittle, delicate and, frankly, not exactly built to last like old cars. No wonder you hear the passing comment “they don’t make them like they used to anymore.” So it makes sense to want to make sure your car lasts as long as possible.

Now, there are preventative measures, like making sure it’s well maintained, cleaning it, and driving carefully. But what about the factors you can’t control? For example, a small piece of gravel that has been picked up by a semi and bounces off the hood, roof, mirror, or whatever. This is where the paint protection film comes in. Its purpose is similar to that of bulletproof glass (don’t shoot at a car with paint protection film on it). Its job is to absorb impact by acting as a barrier. Its composition is made up of a polyurethane film, not far removed from that used in armored glass. The use of a paint protection film is to ensure that your vehicle suffers little or no damage. I mean, it’s not going to protect you if another car hits you at 60 km/h. That job is reserved for your seat belt and airbags. However, it will stop those stubborn scratches, stone chips, and even minor abrasions. It even protects your paint job from contaminants and contaminants such as bird droppings, tree sap, dirt, dust, and other unfavorable things that could damage your paint. Paint protection film can save you a ton of money in the long run. While there are more affordable alternatives, namely ceramic coating, they do not provide the protection against scratches and chips. The paint protection film yes.

Paint protection film is also a fantastic way to preserve the color of your vehicle, especially if it’s a custom color! It’s a product of choice for classic cars, you know, the ones that were “made like before.” These cars are usually high-end classics, with discontinued paint finishes, so it’s no wonder they want paint protection.
