When to Buy Guide: A guide on when to buy a new computer

A complete guide to buying a computer…

Note: This is a guide for beginning and intermediate computer users and buyers. These are my views and opinions only. Use the information for reference only.

Many people may wonder when is the best time to build a computer. There are usually mixed answers based on factors like when you need the computer and what you need it for.

I have decided to write a short guide for anyone planning to buy a computer this year.

You need a new computer:

Do you really need a new computer? If you want a new computer because your current computer has problems and is full of bugs, etc., then chances are you don’t really “need” a new computer. Reinstalling Windows usually fixes all performance issues and any errors you may be having with your computer. If you’re having hardware issues, it’s most likely a single part that’s causing you complaints, and a replacement is usually the best option. Replacing faulty parts is a good way to save money if you don’t really “need” a new computer. If you feel that your current computer is lacking in performance due to new software and games or if your computer is not compatible with software and games, then you should consider purchasing. Always research why you really need a new computer before you decide to buy it.

Upgrade your current computer:

There is a rule that I refer to when upgrading a computer. Never do a replace upgrade where you remove a part and replace it. Because then you’re wasting money seeing that you just took out a perfectly good piece of hardware and tossed it into storage. If you try to sell the piece, you probably won’t get anywhere near 50% of what you paid for it. So don’t do replacement upgrades. There is another way of updating which is fine and I like to call “Add Update”. This is where you add a piece of hardware without taking anything away. So things like adding RAM, hard drives, optical drives, add-in cards, etc. are all good. There is a time when you should never upgrade, this is when your computer is old and starts to lag behind on the latest apps. In this case, save your money on an upgrade and invest in a new computer.

What do you need a new computer for:

When buying a computer, it’s important to think about what you really need the new computer for. Depending on what you use the computer for depends on what your “primary” part will be. Your “Main” part is the piece of hardware that will affect performance the most in the applications you plan to use. For example, if you’re a gamer, your graphics card will be the main piece of hardware in your system, so it’s smart to invest more in that. Where, if you want your new computer to act as a media center for playing movies, capturing videos, etc., then RAM will be your main part, followed by CPU. Large video files require a lot of RAM to be able to access different parts of the video faster. You also need a decent CPU as you need something that can make use of RAM properly so that you can decompress video at the rate that RAM can output data.

Where to buy:

Where to buy is the most important decision when buying a computer. Also, depending on whether you will build it yourself or get a retailer to build one for you. You should only build a computer if you can repair a computer. If you build it yourself, you get no warranty on labor. Although your parts will come with a warranty, you must diagnose the problem before you can get a replacement part. That rule then goes the other way, where you should buy from a systems retailer as long as they offer a warranty on labor.

Another factor on where to buy is price. Some people look for the cheapest places while others look for the most reliable places or the ones with the best after-sales service and support. If you plan on building yourself then you will want a cheap parts retailer. However, be careful as some cheap places are unreliable. I once spent 1 month waiting for parts only to receive the wrong graphics card that was also faulty. I finally had a working system 2 1/2 months after paying for the parts. If you don’t want to build it yourself then price will be a factor, but what might be a bigger factor is after sales service and support. Many places will forget about you once you walk out the door leaving your cash on the counter. Where some places may offer you excellent after sales support and additional “bonus” services. Although bonus services are rare, if a venue provides them, they are usually the right choice. Bonus services include things like free web space or a special customer-only website that offers free software and updates.

When to buy:

This factor sits just behind “where to buy” and just ahead of “what to buy.” Depending on what your computer will be used for depends on which parts are most important. To make your computer future proof, you need to future proof it. Preparing for the future is something I strongly believe in. So if you were to consider buying a CPU, make sure it has 64-bit technology, and make sure it has a dual-core CPU for when applications start taking advantage of dual-core processing.

So when to buy can sometimes not be an option depending on how urgently you need your new computer. But if you don’t have urgency, then you should wait for the right time to buy. Below is a list of things to remember to select when is the best time to buy…

We will use Graphics Cards (GPU’s) as a reference…

* If the current line of graphics cards has been around for a while, wait until the next generation arrives. That way, your graphics card will have the latest technologies, the best performance, and be better prepared for the future.
* If you’re waiting for the next generation of graphics cards, then don’t buy a next-generation GPU as soon as it comes out, as there will most likely be a shortage of stock, so you’ll pay top dollar. Instead, wait a few weeks after the initial launch for the most competitive pricing.
*If (for example) a new high-end Nvidia graphics card is coming out and you want a high-end ATI graphics card, for example, wait until the Nvidia card comes out because then ATI will most likely be forced to drop the card. high-end card prices.

Other information:

The same or similar applies to all parts. You will find that parts like hard drives move at the slowest pace in terms of technology. But usually things like that move fast in terms of price. So be aware of that.

There are computer parts that focus on luxury rather than performance. These things include the size of the monitor and the speakers. Although these two things do not affect the performance of the computer, they can affect the experience of the computer. I usually consider things like these last to see what good is a high resolution display if your graphics card doesn’t support high resolution video or gaming. you get the drift anyway.

Then there are things like cases where while they don’t directly affect performance (sometimes they can) or experience, that’s what someone sees when they look at their computer and their case can be important in showing what their personality is like. The cases also offer functionality for ease of use and design. The only time they can increase performance is in cooling capacity. If your case has excellent ventilation. Then you can increase performance yourself by overclocking or increase stability by simply keeping all components cool.

Anyway, that concludes the guide for now, I hope you learn something and find it useful. Remember that it pays to do your market research when shopping for computers so you know what’s already available and what’s on the way.

Health!
