Cut the TV cable? Three reasons why Roku is the best streaming player right now

Cutting the cord. For several years, people have been arguing whether it was possible to cut the cable, so to speak, of their cable provider to enjoy the best of television. Well, we can’t cut the cable entirely, but streaming players like the Roku device can make it very, very easy to access your favorite content over the internet.

Here are three reasons why Roku is the best streaming player available today:

1. It’s small and works effortlessly!

This little gem of a box, the Roku HD connects to your existing Wi-Fi network, connects via HDMI to your HD TV and voila, you have access to tons of internet content. I remember the scene from the recent Dark Shadows remake. Barnabas Collins, the vampire just released in the 20th century after being buried for 200 years, has an interesting encounter with technology. Watch and hear an actress signing on a popular TV show of the day. He staggers towards the television, stunned by what he was watching and hearing and asks, “What sorcery is this?” That’s a question I asked my Roku streaming player many times. I don’t understand how those engineers could create a little electronic device that can do so much, but it works and is fantastic.

2. Access to tons of content.

Do you have an Amazon Prime account? You can then access all of that content through your Roku. Subscribe to HBO? You can then link the HBOGO service to your Roku and access not only current episodes of your favorite HBO shows, but past seasons as well. I was late to the Game of Thrones series, but with access to my HBOGO and my Roku, I was able to watch seasons 1, 2, and 3 in a week to catch up on this very interesting and entertaining HBO. Program. As an aside, because I was so caught up in the series, I ended up buying the digital book on Amazon’s Kindle. Now I can read about the series before it returns to HBO in 2014. Isn’t it surprising to see all the synergy of the modern media complex available on the Internet? There was a time when large companies were quite threatened by digitization. Now, they have found ways to prosper and profit.

3. Ease of use.

Roku recently updated its software, streamlining the search for content. Regardless of the content you’re interested in, you enter a search and Roku examines all of your content across all platforms, across all channels, and then calls to collect that information on a list. It really is that simple. And while not all shows are available on the Roku streaming device, more and more content is available on a monthly basis. Most importantly, you can easily find and access it thanks to that wonderful little box.

We can see the future of television and it is bright. Someday, consumers will be able to view and buy only the content they want. The days of cable service with more than 250 channels may be waning. Consider it another victim of the democratization of content on the web.
