3 facts from the Stevie Nicks song

Legendary rock star Stevie Nicks is back with her good husky voice, signature bangs, high-heeled boots, chiffon lace dresses, and her latest album ‘In Your Dreams’. Yes, you’ve been waiting for it and now it’s here. The album was released on May 4, 2011 and is now widely available at your favorite record bars. According to song critics, ‘In Your Dreams’ is one of their best. Perhaps, because Stevie Nicks wrote and co-authored most of the songs on the package. Also, the album is a collaboration of some of the coolest musicians out there. This fact assures you that all your money is worth it. Speaking of facts, let’s take a look at some of the more interesting facts about why we learned to love Stevie Nicks. Most are background clippings for some of his greatest hits.

Stop dragging my heart

“Stop Draggin ‘My Heart Around” is Stevie Nicks’ first single from his first solo album “Belladonna.” The album was released on July 8, 1981 and “Stop Draggin ‘My Heart Around” became an instant hit. He was ranked n. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and at No. 2 on the US Billboard Album Rock tracks.

The song was written by Thomas Petty and Mike Campbell for their band. Jimmy Iovine, who was working with Stevie Nicks at the time, arranged and produced the song for her. Nicks and Tom met while recording Petty’s group album, “Damn the Torpedoes.” Nicks asked Tom if he could write a song for her. Tom didn’t think he was serious. A year later, Nicks asked Tom the same question again. Tom wrote ‘Insider’ for his album Hard Promises, which was recorded at the time, recorded a demo and sent a copy to Nicks. The rising singer visited the studio the next day and enthusiastically recorded the song with Petty’s band. Tom loved the song and included it on the album.

Petty, impressed with the charming lady’s talent, commissioned Mike Campbell to record a demo of “Stop Draggin ‘My Heart Around,” a song he wrote a year ago. They sent a demo to Nicks that he really liked. After some arrangement, the two decided to do a duet with the song. Did the ending work out? Tom thought he might have met earlier with the lady’s request. The hit single went platinum in just a few months.

Landslide

If you’re a Glee fan, you must have seen the episode where Santana confessed her true feelings to Brittany. He can hardly express his sadness with Brit by rejecting his promiscuous proposal. The two are best friends, so the reveal threatened to ruin their lifelong friendship. With the help of McKinley High’s substitute teacher, Mrs. Holly Holiday, the girls let it all come out in one song: Landslide. Yes, another Fleetwood Mac classic. “I took my love, took it down. I climbed a mountain and turned around. And saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills. Until the landslide knocked me down …” Yes, those are the symbolic lyrics written by The Rock Queen herself. Many thought it was all about Nick’s father (his father thought that too …). In an interview with VH1 Storytellers in 1998, Stevie Nicks revealed that it was really about her relationship with longtime boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham collapsing like a major landslide that year. He wrote it in a friend’s magnificent house overlooking the vast snow-covered hills.

Dreams

As you may know, Stevie Nicks is not destined to be part of Fleetwood Mac. Lindsey was the only guest, but she insisted on bringing Nicks. Little did the group know, the girl who had just been dragged away is their main weapon. “Rumors” is probably their best band album. It garnered praise from international critics. The emotional songs on the album were perhaps the product of the group’s emotional upheavals during its recording. Lindsey was breaking up with Stevie, Mick was getting divorced, John and Christine were in the early stages of their marital separation. “Dreams”, the title track of the album was written by Stevie Nicks in a room adjacent to his study. With a piano, he wrote “Dreams” in an instant. Ten minutes or so. He performed it in front of the band and Fleetwood Mac decided to record it the next day and the rest is history.
