Samsung Vs Sony – Meeting with the latest generation LCD LED TV

Although this technology comes at a very expensive price, LCD LED televisions still attract interest among television enthusiasts. Pioneering brands have emerged with their own models, but two brands seem to be more competitive: the Samsung A950 LED LCD screen and the Sony XBR8 series.

Now a hot topic, let’s review how both LED LCD TVs are taking the home display entertainment market to a whole new level.

LED LCD TVs are your usual liquid crystal display TV with the addition of state-of-the-art LED backlight technology. And, of course, new technologies have a fairly high introductory price. But Samsung wanted to cater to the needs of a larger market, so the 81F series of LED LCD TVs was its first attempt at offering a mass market model.

Manufacturer competition became even more intense when Samsung launched its A950 series, while Sony created the XBR9 series of LED LCD TVs and LG introduced its LG 47LG90. The LG and Samsung models sell for around $ 3,000 for a 46-inch screen like the Samsung LN46A950, while the 44-inch versions are priced at around $ 4,000.

Sony decided not to join the price range of the two brands; its 46-inch KDL-46XBR8 sells for $ 5,000 while the 55-inch version costs $ 2,000 more. This makes Sony models look exceptionally expensive than other brands’ LED LCD HDTVs.

However, they differ not only in price, but also in the LED backlight technology used. Although all three use hundreds of LEDs positioned behind the screen, Sony uses a tri-color LED configuration, while LG and Samsung use white LEDs on their displays.

Sony’s tri-color LED system is called Sony Triluminous Technology, which works with one blue and two green LEDs. Sony explains that such technology will improve the color purity of images. This could perhaps be a reason for its more expensive price.

So which LED technology is better? Is it Samsung’s white light LED backlight or Sony’s tri-color technology?

Since LCD LED TV technology is technically quite new, improvements will continue to be made in the years to come. Not that this is not the right time to buy an LED LCD TV; But if you consider things carefully and manage to realize that your needs could be met by a less expensive model, you will see that it would be more rational to get a more affordable model.

But again, it will all depend on your requirements for a good LED LCD HDTV. If Sony’s Triluminous technology sounds like the best to you and you have the budget for it, then buy it. But if you’re considering saving your $ 2000-3000 cash, go for Samsung and you will still get an exceptional HDTV with an LED LCD screen. After all, it is Samsung; you can be sure that you will get the best.
