Quit smoking through hypnotherapy

TUXEDO FINISH

There are many reasons why people, especially young teens, start smoking. Some first-time smokers started out of curiosity. Due to peer pressure, they may venture out with friends and wish to be accepted into their group. Some teens enjoy the thrill of breaking the rules and rebel against their parents or teachers.

Whatever your reasons, it takes just ten seconds for nicotine to be absorbed into your bloodstream. This causes the brain to release adrenaline, creating a buzz of pleasure and energy. Nicotine, a drug found naturally in tobacco, is highly addictive. Research suggests that nicotine can be just as addictive as heroin, cocaine, or alcohol.

Pleasure and energy quickly fade, leaving you feeling tired and run down. Since the body can develop a high tolerance to nicotine, more nicotine is needed to maintain that feeling of euphoria, which will eventually lead to addiction. When the body lacks nicotine, dopamine and norepinephrine levels change, making a person feel anxious, depressed, and irritable. Cravings for nicotine can be very strong, making it difficult to quit.

There are many ways to quit smoking. Something in the “Cold Turkey” style, abrupt and without external help. However, this is not very ideal as there is only about four to seven percent (4 – 7%) success rate. Counseling and behavioral therapy are another way to help a person quit smoking. There is also nicotine replacement therapy, it simply helps a person quit smoking tobacco. The goal here is to end nicotine addiction, therefore this method does not fully serve the purpose. Medications that help with cravings and withdrawal symptoms can also be prescribed by a doctor. Telling friends and family and getting their support goes a long way to making the change successful.

A better smoking cessation therapy that is safe, non-invasive, drug free and side effect free would be through hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy is a natural way to tap into your subconscious mind to help you achieve the behavioral changes you want. One point to keep in mind is that hypnotherapy cannot force you to do something you don’t want to do. So if you don’t want to quit, don’t worry, a hypnotherapist can’t force you to quit without your consent. As the American Association of Professional Hypnotherapists explains: “Hypnosis is simply a state of relaxed concentration. It’s a natural state. In fact, each of us enters that state, sometimes called a trance state, at least twice a day.” : once when we’re falling asleep, and once when we’re waking up.”

Smoking, like all clothing, is a reaction controlled by the subconscious part of the mind. Consciously, we all know that smoking is bad for us, however, our feelings and beliefs (managed by the subconscious) may think otherwise. Therefore, hypnosis brings us to the state of rapid eye movement, a natural state of healing and processing, and it is in this state that your deeper subconscious mind is most open to new ideas and suggestions. In this state, when your subconscious receives suggestions like ‘you don’t have to try not to smoke; the habit will start to wear off. As reported in New Scientist magazine, it was found that “hypnotherapy enjoys a higher success rate than any other method of helping people quit smoking.”

According to the Uni. of Washington School of Medicine, there is a 91% success rate in using hypnosis to help you quit smoking. The American Journal of Medicine states that hypnosis has been promoted as a drug-free way to help smokers kick the habit, and there is evidence that it works, according to a research review that analyzed 14 international studies. In it, Taylor and Dingle (1994) found that a review of multiple research studies shows that a single session of hypnosis for smoking cessation produced a success rate of about 25%, while more than 70% of those who participated in 2 or 3 hypnosis sessions quit smoking in a few weeks.

dangers of smoking

1) Smoking causes eighty-seven percent (87%) of lung cancer deaths, thirty-two percent (32%) of heart disease deaths, and seventy-nine percent (79%) of all cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases.

Looking at all the negative effects of smoking above makes us wonder why there are still so many smokers out there. Many cite that smoking helps reduce stress. However, that may just be a perception, and hypnotherapy can help a person better manage their stress, or even find other coping mechanisms, and thus be able to kick the smoking habit. Nicotine withdrawal symptoms are another fear that deters most people from quitting. Common complaints include feeling irritable, angry, or anxious. An addicted person will have trouble thinking. There would also be a strong desire for tobacco products. Many people will also feel hungrier than usual, which leads to overeating and weight gain. It is true that these negative effects will be difficult to manage. Hypnotherapy can help you manage those withdrawal symptoms. Using different psychological techniques, the therapist can help you change your thoughts, send suggestions to your mind and body, or create a healthier you. These mental tools can help you quit without worry.
